So you cann comment on the ones that are shown.
and yes, it’s just a start. it’ll be a while before one can use it productively.

It’s not twitter, where you can stumble anywhere and write what you think. I mean, you still gotta like pages, join groups and make friends to have those ‘permissions’ facebook famously maintains. Maybe, it’s a start. But it just seems awkward for now.

yea, graph search and hashtags would go together really well. because then you didn’t have a context of what you were searching for, and now you do. i’d never thought about it that way. :)

But definitely not due to the public pressure. (The pressure on getting a ‘dislike’ button has been along for a long time)
Facebook owned instagram, was using hashtags already. maybe they have plans to integrate them somehow more closely. Or maybe new features to highlight discussions ARE going to arrive. Maybe, facebook just can’t stand twitter having so many users. 😀

Agreed, both twitter and facebook are social sites, but somehow they serve entirely different purposes. Like you mentioned, twitter is more open, more public. It’s harder to keep track of what the people are talking about, hence the hashtags.
In facebook, I reckon it’s just for those ‘targeted’ ads.
If I have to rate it, I’ll have to go with ‘useless’..
